Meet the Team

Dr Neil Davies

Dr Neill Davies

Dr Neil Davies began the Kiro Kids organization in November 1999. Dr Davies was at that time working as a lecturer at a Melbourne University and started travelling one day a week to Ballarat to see babies and young children who were mostly referred for care from the local medical and nursing community. A small beginning, but so much more was to come as Dr Davies sponsored the immigration of several chiropractors to Australia and has now opened 5 clinics in total.

Dr Davies vision is to provide a standard of chiropractic care for the whole family that is unparalleled in excellence anywhere in the country. Dr Davies is a caring, compassionate man with a deep love for the Australian community and in particular for those whose lives are less fortunate than most. In addition to practicing chiropractic, Dr Davies is a widely published author with several chiropractic textbooks, two Master degrees, a certificate course and many research articles to his credit. He is in demand right across the world for conference speaking and seminar presentations, having been invited to teach in the UK, Ireland, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and the United States.

Dr Davies also gives 2-3 weeks of his time each year to visit northern Thailand and provide love and care for hundreds of at-risk, deeply impoverished children living in the mountains along the Burmese border.

Dr Mark Colvin

Dr Mark Colvin

Dr Mark Colvin is the latest addition to the Kiro Kids team. He joins us after spending the last six years in England where he completed his Masters degree at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic and worked as the team chiropractor for a professional ice hockey team. Mark grew up mostly in Canada where he developed a love for sports but has also lived in Germany, Nigeria and several parts of the UK. Like the rest of the Kiro Kids team, Mark has a strong desire to help the poor and disadvantaged of the world and will certainly be participating in future trips to Thailand to provide chiropractic care to the many hundreds of children.

Mark is a keen athlete who enjoyes many sports including athletics, cross-country and downhill skiing, ice hockey, baseball, marathon running and downhill mountain bike racing. Mark is quickly developing a love for AFL footy!

Mark is married to Rachel and together they are passionate about music and helping young people to develop their own individual character. Mark is delighted to be working with Kiro Kids to provide the best possible chiropractic care that he can for his patients.

Dr Jasmyn Steel

Dr Jasmyn Steel

Jasmyn completed her double bachelor degree at RMIT in Bachelor of Applied Science (Clinical) and Bachelor of Chiropractic Science in 1998. She has enjoyed working in family practice for the past nine years. Jasmyn has worked in Newcastle, Sydney and her own clinic in Bowral.

Both Jasmyn and her husband grew up in rural areas outside of Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Jasmyn was fortunate enough to study under Dr Neil Davies in her undergraduate degrees. Even at this stage there was a particular interest in pediatric care, though the birth of her first child sparked further commitment to the practice of pediatric chiropractic.

After beginning to study a Master of Science in Chiropractic Pediatrics, through the University of Wales, it became clear that to work with the Kiro Kids team would be the most professionally satisfying environment to pursue. This has proven to be true after opening the Kiro Kids Hoppers Crossing Family Clinic as the primary practitioner there since October 2006.

“Seeing the remarkable benefits that chiropractic can provide for babies and children of all ages is the best reward and privilege I could ever ask for.”

Jasmyn began working at the Kiro Kids Hoppers Crossing clinic upon its opening in October 2006 where she has enjoyed caring for the people of Hoppers Crossing. Jasmyn has decided to join the Kiro Kids Ballarat team from 4th August & she very much looks forward to building a future within the Ballarat community.

Dr Joel Bishop

Dr Joel Bishop

Joel grew up in the rural town of Drouin, about an hour east of Melbourne. From an early age he developed a passion for Chiropractic due to both his aunty and uncle being Chiropractors in New Zealand for a long while. Joel completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in 2005 and then went on to graduate with a Masters in Chiropractic at RMIT University in 2007. Since then Joel has been practising in a family based chiropractic clinic in the Dandenong area. Joel has a strong passion for pediatric Chiropractic and is looking forward to completing his Masters in Pediatric Chiropractic also.

Joel is looking forward to moving back to the country and serving the Ballarat community. In his spare time he has a keen interest in music, keeping physically fit and active by running, cycling and playing sports such as football (Geelong is his team of choice!).

Dr Kimberley Tuohey

Dr Kimberley Tuohey

Kim lives in Ballarat and has been practising with Kiro Kids since 2002, initially in family practice but now running a paediatric practice.

Kim comes from a family of 5 children, herself being the second eldest. Kim's father is world renowned chiropractor Dr Neil J Davies. Kim considers herself fortunate to have been in a position to be able to see first hand what chiropractic can do, which made her career choice easy, as she was so in awe of the effect chiropractic can have on the human body.

Kim was educated in Ballarat, then Adelaide, before beginning chiropractic at RMIT. Following graduation she worked initially in South Australia before returning to Ballarat to start the Kiro Kids family practise with her father. Kim is enrolled in a Master of Science degree in chiropractic paediatrics, and fits in as much study as she can around her growing family. About a year and a half after returning to Ballarat Kim decided to move into paediatrics, and has loved every day of it since.

Kim was married to Paul in 1997 and has 4 beautiful sons — Bradley, Jack, Liam and Elliott. Kim considers herself very fortunate to have a great job where she can spend a considerable amount of time with her children, and work around their ever expanding schedules.

Kim's vision statement for her work with Kiro Kids is:

“To use the intelligence given to me by God, and the knowledge I have gained, to better the lives of the little people I have been blessed to have come under my care.

To constantly increase my knowledge so that the care I provide is of the highest level.

To conduct myself with honesty and integrity, and treat my patients with the dignity they deserve.

Where possible, use the skills I have to reach out to those, either in this country or overseas, who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, or otherwise marginalized and could benefit from chiropractic.”

Dr Patrick McPhie

Patrick grew up in Sydney and graduated from Macquarie University in 2004 with both a Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and a Master of chiropractic. After his 5 years at university Pat immediately moved overseas to practice in Glasgow Scotland, at which point he was introduced to the NIP technique used in the Kiro Kids Clinics. Pat returned after 2 years to join a clinic in Cronulla, south of Sydney where after 18 months in July of 2008 he was asked to join the kiro kids team at Hoppers Crossing.

Pat has a keen interest in paediatric and family chiropractic care and is currently studying for his Master of Science in Chiropractic paediatrics. He is from a family of 6 boys and loves sport, particularly Rugby Union but realises he will need to find a new passion for the local game of AFL. Pat looks forward to becoming part of the community of Hoppers Crossing and helping them experience the amazing benefits of true health through precise chiropractic.
